On the morning of 9 June, attendees of the 41st Advanced Training Course (ATC) visited Leonardo S.p.A.’s Global CyberSec Centre (GCC) in Chieti, an internationally well-known centre of excellence for cybersecurity which monitors 24 hours a day and defends digital networks, critical infrastructure, private companies and public administrations in Italy and 130 countries worldwide against cyber threats and attacks.
Together with the Director of the Scuola di Perfezionamento per le Forze di Polizia and the Head of the Research and Training Branch, the ATC attendees were welcomed by Mr. Gabriele Pierozzi, Head of Sales for the Police Forces, who guided the visitors into the operational heart of the facility, giving them the opportunity to know the technological resources and processes involved and observe face-to-face the practical work of the operators.
There followed a detailed briefing that outlined the overall structure of the security model developed by Leonardo, focusing in particular on the so-called “Zero Trust” approach, a strategic pillar of this security architecture that shifts the focus from the almost exclusive protection of the external perimeter of monitored systems to the non-stop and accurate verification of the identity, authorisation levels and online behaviour of users and devices accessing protected data
