On 18 September 2026, in Rome, an important institutional meeting with a delegation of the Ecuadorian National Police was hosted by the Scuola di Perfezionamento per le Forze di Polizia (SFP), at the conference hall dedicated to Prefect Mosca.
The event provided a valuable opportunity to compare and share best practices and operational methods implemented by the two countries in the area of security and law enforcement. The opening session started with a presentation by the International Relations Service of Police Forces Coordination and Planning Office focused on the architecture and the operation of the Italian police forces coordination system.
Then, experts from the Central Directorate of Criminal Police illustrated strategies and analysis processes applied to prevent and counter transnational organized crime. On the other hand, the topics of global security and subversive threat countering were addressed by experts from Central Directorate of Prevention Police, with a focus on antiterrorism methods.
The meeting was also attended by leading operational and investigative units of the Italian police forces such as the Central Directorate of Prevention Police of the Italian National Police, which presented strategic and operational guidelines to counter criminal organizations; the Raggruppamento Operativo Speciale, i.e. Special Operations Group known by the Italian acronym R.O.S. of the Carabinieri Corps, which presented its own investigative activities on organized crime; and the Servizio Centrale di Investigazione Criminalità Organizzata , i.e. Central Service for Investigations on the Organized Crime, known by the Italian acronym S.C.I.C.O. of the Guardia di Finanza Corps, which illustrated methods of economic and financial investigation aimed at targeting illicit assets.
This initiative has confirmed the mutual strong commitment to enhance cooperation and the exchange of information between the Italian and Ecuadorian police forces to tackle the challenges posed by transnational crime with ever-greater effectiveness.
