On 14 September 2026, the opening meeting for the XLII Advanced Training Course was held at the Scuola di Perfezionamento per le Forze di Polizia. The 21 Management Grade Police Officers/Officials from the four national police forces (National Police, Carabinieri Corps, Guardia di Finanza Corps and Penitentiary Police) arrived at the SFP venue in Piazza di Priscilla, together with 5 foreign auditors from Albania, Brazil, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and France.
The SFP Director, Guardia di Finanza Major General Vito Giordano, together with Carabinieri Corps Brigadier General Alessandro Della Nebbia, Director of the Studies, Research and Courses Service, as well as the SFP permanent staff, welcomed the new trainees.
During a simple welcome ceremony, Major General Giordano emphasized the scope of the demanding academic program that is dedicated to them and the inestimable value of the professional and personal network that will develop among them during their nine-month stay at the SFP and that will accompany them throughout the rest of their professional careers.
Moreover, the event was characterized by a significant virtual “passing of the torch” with the trainees of the previous academic year’s course. In fact, the course leader of the 41st Course, National Police Dirigente Superiore Giacinto Profazio, together with Carabinieri Corps Colonel Donatello Cirillo, Guardia di Finanza Corps Colonel Giovanni Esposito and Penitenciary Police Senior Officer Lisa Brianese took part in the meeting to describe their experiences at the SFP e to welcome the new trainees. They were joined via video link by Mariano Alejandro Vitelli, Prefetto of the Argentine Coast Guard, and Daniel Balinhas Chiodelli, an official of the Brazilian Federal Police.
Following the new trainees’ self-introductions and the traditional group photo, the academic year was officially opened.
This Advanced Training Course, designed to hone the professional, decision-making, and managerial skills and competencies of Management Grade Police Officers/Officials with a focus on interagency coordination and international cooperation, will cover a wide range of topics: institutional matters, fight against organized crime, criminology, leadership and communication, geopolitics and security, fight against international terrorism, cybersecurity and privacy, as well as meetings with senior representatives of High Judicial Authorities, national Agencies, and independent Authorities.
In addition to frontal lessons, the program will provide for in-depth seminars, conferences, workshops, and study trips, and will be complemented by a Level II university master’s degree designed in collaboration with Luiss “Guido Carli” University in Rome.
