From 4 to 6 May 2023, the 67° session of the international conference on “Euro Working Group for Commodities and Financial Modelling” (EWGCFM) was held at the “Prefetto Carlo Mosca” Conference Hall in the Scuola di Perfezionamento per le Forze di Polizia. This event, which was organized by the Rome-based La Sapienza University, UnitelmaSapienza and the Società Europea di Ricerca Operativa, focused on the topic concerning “The Role of Fintech and Artificial Intelligence in Risk Management and Measurement”.
This working group, set up in 1986 in Lisbon by Jaap Spronk, Erasmus University, and Otto Loistl, Vienna-based University, has been committed in organizing meetings every six months at international level. It analyzed in details the latest technologies to aid the financial issues faced by companies, mediators and investors.
The three-day meeting was opened by the welcome address delivered by the Scuola di Perefezionamento Director, Major General Giuseppe La Gala, as well as by the representatives of the bodies involved in the organization of this event: Professor Rita Laura D’Ecclesia, President of EWGCFM, Antonello Folco Biagini, Rector of UnitelmaSapienza and Professor Giovanna Jona Lasinio from the Department of Statistics at the Rome-based La Sapienza University.
During the study sessions, characterized also by interactive round-tables, university professors, experts in this field and coming from Italian and foreign universities, as well as representatives of banks and Supervisory Authorities (Banca d’Italia) participated in high-level and interesting panels. Once again, the Scuola di Perfezionamento was involved in encouraging training activities and discussion fora among all the actors operating in the field of economics, institutions and universities. Moreover, the attendance of the trainees of the XXXVIII Advanced Training Course at this event underlines the need for Management Grade Police Officers/Officials to get knowledge and analyze in details also the most topical issues in the financial and technological fields, which are currently the invaluable assets of the whole security sector.
