Wednesday, 9 September 2026, marked the end of the three-year term during which the Italian National Police led the Institute. In accordance with the principle of rotation among police forces, as provided for in the SFP’s Regulation, leadership has now been assumed by the Guardia di Finanza Corps.
After 11 months as the Director of the SFP, National Police Dirigente Generale Vincenzo Massimo Modeo stepped down from his position to assume a new and prestigious role. His position as SFP Director has been assumed by Major General Vito Giordano of the Guardia di Finanza Corps.
In his farewell address to the staff, Director Modeo thanked the whole permanent staff for their commitment and dedication during his tenure, emphasizing the strategic role and ever-growing prestige accorded to the SFP—the hub of advanced training for senior officers and officials of the four police forces, who are called upon to hold important and sensitive positions within their respective organizations.
The outgoing Director then urged all staff to continue their work with enthusiasm, offering the same level of support to the new Director, Major General Giordano, to whom he wished every success, confident that the SFP—a hub for interagency coordination—will achieve new and even greater milestones under his leadership.
