In the framework of the “In-depth internship at the Public Security Department and Police Forces’ central bodies”, provided for by the curriculum of the current Academic Year, on 9 and 10 March 2022 the trainees of the XXXVII Advanced Training Course, accompanied by Senior Police Dir. Sup. Rosaria D’Errico, Director of the Studies and Research Service of the Scuola di Perfezionamento, as well as by the Guardia di Finanza Colonel Paolo Occhipinti, Head of the Studies, Experimentation, Research and Documentation Office, visited the Guardia di Finanza Corps Headquarters and the Gaeta-based Nautical Academy, intended to the training of staff to be assigned to the Maritime Service of the Guardia di Finanza Corps.
On the first day, the Chief of Staff, Major General Francesco Greco, welcomed the delegation and opened the session at the Briefing Room of the Guardia di Finanza Headquarters. This event was attended also by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Mariano La Malfa as well as by all the Heads of military units of the Guardia di Finanza Headquarters. The Senior Guardia di Finanza Officers of the II and III military Units delivered their lectures and illustrated the structural and functional organization of the Guardia di Finanza Corps, with a special focus on the topics concerning the Maritime Police, the fight against money laundering, the protection of Italian and EU budget expenditure, tax evasion and international cooperation.
On the day after, the trainees, welcomed by the Commander of the Nautical Academy, Colonel Amedeo Antonucci, participated in an field training exercise of “boarding team” in the Gaeta Gulf, carried out by means of the modern and most advanced naval equipment. In this way, the Nautical Academy had the opportunity to demonstrate the high level of technical and professional expertise required to fulfill the tasks assigned to the Guardia di Finanza Corps, which is the only Maritime Police. This internship concluded with the visit to the Historical Museum of the Guardia di Finanza Corps Maritime Service.
