In line with its current international dimension, the Scuola di Perfezionamento per le Forze di Polizia hosted the “ First meeting of the Focal Points of I-CAN Project”, which was held from 14 to 16 November 2022 at the “Prefetto Carlo Mosca” Lecture Hall.
This meeting was related to the agreement signed between Public Security Department and the General Secretariat of the Criminal Police International Organization, named Interpol, with the aim of strengthening international police cooperation in the fight against Mafia-type organized crime as well as countering the global spreading of the threat represented by ‘ndrangheta organizations.
More than 80 delegates and cooperators coming from 11 countries joining the I-CAN Project attended the meeting with the aim of countering ‘ndrangheta organizations in Europe, in North America, in South America and in the Pacific area, together with members of Interpol and of the Criminal Police Central Directorate.
The session was opened with the welcome address by Prefetto Vittorio Rizzi, Deputy Director General of Public Security Department – Director of the Criminal Police Central Directorate as well as by Cyril Gout, Operational Support Director and Analysis of Interpol.
Then, several lectures were delivered by outstanding Italian and foreign authorities belonging to the judicial and investigation field, who are strongly engaged in fighting ‘ndrangheta organizations. The Scuola di Perfezionamento per le Forze di Polizia , in line with its training purposes based on the development of integration and discussion, underlined the importance of international commitment in avoiding the increasing spreading of criminal phenomena in the international scenario, thus providing its contribution to counter Mafia-type phenomenon by means of a global approach aimed at preventing and countering crime through the exchange of specific expertise, intelligence and best practices.
