In parallel with the activities held in Rome, from 17 to 21 April 2023 an interesting course was organized at IHEMI in Paris. It was attended by ten Italian trainees of the XXXVIII Advanced Training Course who shared knowledge and expertise with their French counterparts.
Also on this occasion, the activities were introduced by lectures delivered by the two Institutes committed in this cultural exchange (Scuola di Perfezionamento and IHEMI) as well as by Police Forces operating in their respective countries. Moreover, the Scuola di Perfezionamento Director and the IHEMI Director, Préfet Eric Freysselinard, participated in a videoconference.
During this activity, divided into five days, the designated trainees had the possibility to study, deeply analyze and implement different kinds of public security strategic activities, thus acquiring a wide overview of the different approaches to solve problems in critical situations: the exchange of expertise regarded deep analyses on crisis management both in relation to police forces activities and, in general terms, in relation to the responsibilities of the whole public sector. Special attention was focused on crisis management in the private sector. The program included some noteworthy initiatives such as, for example, a crisis management exercise. In particular, a multiple terrorist attack was assumed to take place in the south of France at the border with Italy. The participants simulated the management of all national bodies responsible in the fields of public security, emergency over the territory, including health care, investigation and public order activities. As a matter of fact, all the management aspects of a critical situation, which fall within the remit of public bodies, were addressed making reference also to the relations with mass media.
The Italian delegation was also welcomed by the Italian Ambassador in Paris, Mrs. Emanuela D’Alessandro, who underlined that international cooperation is the only tool to effectively carry on the essential and strategic fight against crime.
