THE SFP MEETS THE BELGIAN MINISTER OF THE INTERIOR AND THE GENERAL COMMISSIONER OF THE FEDERAL POLICE

In the morning of April 17, the SFP hosted a meeting on an in-depth analysis of the security system and the coordination model implemented by Italian police forces. The meeting took place in the “Cenacolo” hall room and was attended by the Belgian Minister of the Interior, Institutional Reforms and Democratic Renewal, Annelies VERLINDEN, the General Commissioner of the Federal Police, Marc DE MESMAERKEN, the SFP Director, Major General of the Carabinieri Corps Giuseppe La Gala, the Director of the Office for Coordination and Planning of Police Forces, Prefect Annunziato VARDÈ, the Director of the Service for International Police Cooperation, Brigadier General of the Guardia di Finanza Corps Giampiero Ianni, the Director of the  Direzione Centrale per i Servizi Antidroga, Lieutenant General of the Guardia di Finanza Corps Antonino MAGGIORE, and the Deputy Director of the Direzione Investigativa Antimafia, Brigadier General of the Guardia di Finanza Corps Nicola ALTIERO.  

The meeting ended with a presentation of the interagency training system implemented by the Scuola di Perfezionamento per le Forze di Polizia and the Caserta-based Scuola Internazionale per la prevenzione e il contrasto al crimine organizzato.

 The visit of prominent representatives of the Belgian Government and Federal Police falls within a process of successful cooperation between Italian and Belgian police forces to combat transnational organized crime and to cooperate in the field of economic and financial investigations aimed at identifying and seizing illicit wealth.
