In the morning of February 6, Tuesday, at the “Carlo Mosca” conference hall of the Scuola di Perfezionamento per le Forze di Polizia, the Director Maurizio Vallone met and interviewed the Director of the Revenue Agency, Ernesto Maria Ruffini.
Mr. Ruffini described the Revenue Agency’s activities, starting from its establishment within the Ministry of Economy and Finance as tax agency responsible for carrying out tax assessments and controls and managing taxes.
The Revenue Agency has the objective of guaranteeing the fulfillment of tax obligations by taxpayers and carries out all services relating to the land registry.
Mr. Ruffini also illustrated his representation and management duties as Director of the Agency.
During the interview, emphasis was attached to a new effective compliance tool both for the Agency and taxpayers, i.e. an amicable invitation from the Agency to the taxpayer concerned either to counter-claim in a non-contentious manner the tax infractions highlighted by the Agency itself or to pay the amount due with reduced penalties.
The meeting ended by stressing the close relationship that links the Revenue Agency and its databases with investigations on money laundering and investments of organized crime proceeds.
