On 3 February 2026, the opening ceremony of Academic Year 2025-2026 was held at the venue of the Scuola di Perfezionamento per le Forze di Polizia (SFP) in the presence of the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi.
This event was attended by the Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio, the Undersecretary of the Interior Wanda Ferro, the Chief of Staff of the Minister of the Interior Maria Teresa Sempreviva, the Chief of Police – Director General of Public Security Vittorio Pisani, the Commander General of the Guardia di Finanza Corps Andrea De Gennaro, the Deputy Commander General of the Carabinieri Corps Marco Minicucci, the Head of the Penitentiary Administration Department Stefano De Michele, as well as by the highest judicial authorities and security agencies.
The SFP Director, National Police Dirigente Generale Vincenzo Massimo Modeo, addressed his welcome speech to all the authorities and guests attending this event and expressed his heartfelt thanks to all the professors for their daily and significant contribution to the cultural growth of the trainees. Then, he provided a general outline of the training initiatives held at the SFP, as well as of the organizational innovations planned for this Academic Year, drawing attention to the importance of training activity and the role of SFP in the interagency training system.
Then, the Chief of Police-Director General of Public Security, Prefetto Vittorio Pisani, took the floor and addressed his welcome speech to the authorities, the professors, the trainees, as well as the whole SFP permanent staff, and reiterated the importance of the central role of the SFP in the framework of interagency coordination. In his speech, he also emphasized the strategic importance of constantly analyzing issues related to institutional communication, which is a fundamental tool to strengthen the relationship of trust between Police Forces and citizens. Then, he introduced Professor Francesco Giorgino’s opening address on this subject.
The presentation given by this prominent professor, RAI journalist, and Director of the Master’s Degree in Political and Institutional Communication and Marketing at LUISS University, entitled “The role of communication and institutional marketing in increasing the perceived value of the Police Forces,” provided a detailed analysis on the value of public communication as a tool for transparency, prestige and reliability of institutions, thus highlighting how an effective and consistent storytelling can help strengthen the identity and mission of the Police Forces in the contemporary context.
Finally, the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi delivered his speech. He provided a rich and exhaustive contribution and described the Scuola di Perfezionamento as unique in the national training framework, a center of excellence where not only technical skills, but also a strategic vision, sense of responsibility and ability to manage complex contexts are developed. He explained also that these skills are fundamental to face the many challenges of the contemporary world.
Then, he pronounced the ritual formula for the opening of the 2025–2026 Academic Year.
