The Falcone–Borsellino Course, addressed to ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), on enhanced cooperation against cybercrime and international economic crime, held at the Scuola di Perfezionamento per le Forze di Polizia (SFP)

From 10 to 14 November 2025, the Falcone-Borsellino Program Course on the fight against cybercrime and international economic crime  was held at the “Prefetto Carlo Mosca” Conference Hall at the SFP.  This course, addressed to ASEAN countries, confirmed Italy’s growing role in supporting the operational capabilities of Southeast Asian  police forces.

The session was opened by the Acting Director of the Institute, National Police Dirigente Superiore Vincenzo Modeo, who emphasized the importance of joint training in countering transnational threats. Then, Mr. Andrea Portuesi, Head of the Multilateral Affairs Division of the International Relations Service at the Department of Public Security, delivered his welcome address and highlighted how cooperation with ASEAN is now a strategic priority for Italian international cooperation in the security sector.

This Course was attended by prominent experts, in their capacity as lecturers,  from the Italian Police Forces, who described advanced methodologies to be implemented in the fields of cyber investigations, financial flow analysis, digital forensics, fight aganinst cross-border fraud, and international operational cooperation.

Several delegates and police chiefs from ASEAN member countries took part in this initiative, thus confirming their growing interest in exchanging experiences with the Italian colleagues using  different  investigative models.

ASEAN, which brings together ten countries in Southeast Asia, is now a key player for the stability of the region, thanks to its ability to coordinate common policies and promote police cooperation in the filed of  cross-border crimes.

This association plays a key role in promoting the exchange of information, the definition of shared standards and the implementation of joint training initiatives especially in relation to  the fight against international economic crime.  The collaboration with Italy hastens this process and provides for sound expertise and investigative tools that can be immediately implemented  by Asian partners.

Once again, the Scuola di Perfezionamento per le Forze di Polizia confirms its international vocation and reinforces its position as a center of excellence for advanced training addressed not only to Italian Police Forces but also to several partner countries.

As a matter of fact, cooperation with ASEAN helps to strengthen a global network that is increasingly necessary to tackle complex and constantly evolving criminal challenges.
