“Main actors in the process of change”. With these words the Director of the Interagency Law Enforcement Academy of Advanced Studies welcomed the Senior Police Officers/Officials attending the 37th Advanced Training Course, who, on 20 September 2021, started their management grade Police Forces training activity. This event was held in the presence of the Deputy Director General of Public Security Department in charge of Police Forces’ Coordination and Planning – Prefetto Maria Teresa Sempreviva.
This training activity in the field of security was started with a short welcome ceremony held at the “Prefetto Carlo Mosca” Lecture Hall in the Interagency Law Enforcement Academy of Advanced Studies. Several Senior Police Officers/Officials, who attended the 36th Advanced Training Course concluded last June, also participated in this event. This participation represented a kind of handover between the two groups of trainees as well as the continuous flow of the training activity carried out by our Academy with the aim of providing Management Grade Police Officers/Officials with a management training in police matters and with an incresed awareness about the importance of national and international Police Forces coordination. The deep meaning of this simple and heartfelt ceremony was underlined by Prefetto Sempreviva, who stressed also that the fundamental principle of advanced training activity must be the ethical and social responsibility of Police Officers/Officials, taking into account their peculiar mission.
Moreover, the Course Leader, the Carabinieri Corps Colonel Giovanni Pellegrino, as well as Mrs. Simonetta Renelli, Senior Official from the U.S Security Agencies, represented the 5 foreign attendees who concluded their training activity last June, together with their Italian colleagues.
The Advanced Training Course, having an Academic Year duration, is aimed at honing the scientific-professional expertise of Management Grade Police Forces’Officers/Officials as well as at improving their decision-making skills by providing them with joint methods and techniques in the fields of police forces organization, development and coordination.
Also this year, the Course training activity will be based on four traditional learning areas: Police Forces coordination and fight against organized crime and terrorism; international cooperation; social, economic and communication sciences; public management.
Differently from the previous Course, the new activity characterizing the curriculum of the 37th Advanced Training Course includes the study and the deep analysis of the impact and consequences deriving from the innovative strategic initiatives provided for by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan in relation to the whole security system as well as to Police Forces activity of prevention and fight against organized crime.
In order to develop an international dimension culture, in line with the strategies adopted by Public Security Department in the field of international security matters, the training will be characterized by an increased European and international profile, with the awareness that international police cooperation is a key factor to develop an effective activity of prevention and fight against organized crime and terrorism.
The trainees and the auditors who pass with success the examination at the end of the Advanced Training Course will earn the “Scuola di Perfezionamento per le Forze di Polizia – t.SFP” qualification (a special golden pin) and will be awarded the attendance and completion certificate bearing the signature of the Interior Minister.
Moreover, the Course’trainees will be awarded the University II Level Master Degree in “Security, interagency coordination and international cooperation” which was introduced by means of a special agreement between the Public Security Department and the Rome-based “La Sapienza” Univeristy, Faculty of Political Sciences, Sociology and Communication.
