Seminar on Mafia – related phenomena “Past and present organized crime: history, evolution and currente scenario” 6 e 7 – 11 e 12 maggio 2026

On 6, 7, 11 and 12 May 2026, as part of the training initiatives included in the curriculum of the XLI Advanced Training Course, a series of lectures on the topic ‘Past and present organized crime: history, evolution and the current scenario’ was held at the ‘Prefetto Carlo Mosca’ Conference Hall.  

The one-week training meeting, introduced by the Director, National Police Dirigente Generale Vincenzo Modeo, was attended by leading experts in this field from the academic world, senior members of the judiciary, and top-level law enforcement representatives engaged in the fight against various mafia-type  groups across different regions.

The trainees of   the Advanced Training Course, as well as  representatives from the Carabinieri Officers’ School and the “Piersanti Mattarella” School of the Prison Police attended the sessions.

The final day meetting, which  resulted to be very interesting,  was  moderated by the Scuola di Perfezionamento Director Modeo. In the morning, Professor Isaia Sales of the Suor Orsola Benincasa University of Naples, Mr. Nicola Gratteri, Chief Public Prosecutor at the Court of Naples, and Mr. Nicola Ardituro, Deputy National Anti-Mafia and Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor participated in an intense debate on this topic.  

In the afternoon, looking ahead and to conclude the session, which focused on the evolution of the mafia-type organizations, the Member of Parliament Wanda Ferro spoke remotely, along with Chiara Colosimo, Chair of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into the Mafia-type  phenomenon.
