On 29 April 2024, The Scuola di Perfezionamento Director, National Police Dirigente Generale Maurizio Vallone, welcomed all the participants in the panel discussion on “The role of communication media for security. Police Forces and communication professionals exchanging their opinions” held at the “Prefetto Carlo Mosca” Conference Hall of this Institute.
This panel discussion was opened by Prefetto Stefano Gambacurta, Deputy Chief of Police in charge of the coordination of Police Forces.
The participants included: Giuseppe Amato, Public Prosecutor General at the Court of Appeal of Rome; Fabio Mattei, Secretary General of the Italian Data Protection Authority; Giuseppe Rinaldi, director, reporter, writer, TV anchorman and expert in crime news; Mihaela Gavrila, Professor of Media Studies – “La Sapienza” University of Rome; Massimiliano Capitanio, Commissioner – Italian Communications Regulatory Authority; Giovanni Prattichizzo, Social Media Manager and Digital Pr at the National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT); Poalo Petracca, Director – RaiNews24; Roberta Serdoz, Deputy Director – TGR RAI; Tiberio Timperi, journalist and RAI television anchorman.
Moreover, the following communication experts from the various Police Forces attended this meeting: Fabrizio Mustaro, National Police Primo Dirigente atthe External Relations’ IV Office – Public Security Department’s Secretariat; Michele Roberti, Colonel, Head of the Press Office of the Carabinieri General Headquarters; Antonella Casazza, Colonel, Head of the Central Public Relations and Internal Communications Office of the V Branch of the Guardia di Finanza General Headquarters; Antonietta Troiso, Penitenciary Police Primo Dirigente, Department of Prison Administration.
The panel discussion was closed by Vice Prefetto Giovanni Borrelli, Deputy Chief of the Press Office and Head of Institutional Communication of the Ministry of Interior.
The seminar dealt with important topics, such as the appropriate use of digital media and social networks, the freedom of the press and the right to privacy, the importance of communication for security and, finally, institutional communication.
