Interview with the Member of Parliament  Lorenzo Guerini, President of the Parliamentary Committee for the Security of the Italian Republic

In the morning of 6 March 2024, the Member of Parliament Lorenzo Guerini, President of the Parliamentary Committe for the Security of the Italian Republic  (COPASIR according to the Italian acronym), was welcomed at the Scuola di Perfezionamento per le Forze di Polizia.

The meeting was held at the “Carlo Mosca” Conference Hall in the Scuola di Perfezionamento and was attended by the trainees of the  XXXIX Advanced Training  Course.

The Scuola di Perfezionamento Director, National Police Dirigente Generale  Maurizio Vallone, after expressing his thanks to Mr. Guerini for his kind availability to participate, once more, in the events held at this Institute, started the interview and made a short description of the activities conducted by COPASIR. Then, Director Vallone asked to President Guerini to illustrate this important function of guarantee based on  confidentiality of information and the political needs of  transparency, as well as to indicate  responsibilities and powers of the Committee. 

Mr. Guerini explained that the Committee, on account of its functions which are carried out in the framework of the national information and security system, represents an element of guarantee and relationship with the Parliament.

Moreover, Mr. Guerini described in details the structure of the Committee, designated by the Presidents of the Chamber of Deputies and Senate of the Italian Republic, as well as its  oversight  and control  powers over Security Agencies.
